Makerfabs LoRa LoRaWAN Soil Sensors
In Makerfabs, we have plenty of LoRa LoRaWAN Soil Sensors, different spec, I’d like to introduce and have a sort of them here.
1. LoRa Temperature/ Humidity/ Soil Moisture Sensor V3
It is based on Atmega328P controller plus RFM95 Lora module as LoRa sender& Receiver, detects the soil moisture with capacitive method.
Makerfabs provided good firmware for this module, with low power consumption. It broadcast the sensor data every 75 minutes with the following formats:
you can use any LoRa receiver to get its broadcasting info and interpret the info.
It is shipped with a case and unique ID sticker(which is written in its firmware, as its name),
2. LoRaWAN Temperature/ Humidity/ Soil Moisture Sensor
Based on above #1 LoRa version, this LoRaWAN version uses AI-think RA-08H as the LoRaWAN module , which can be connected to service via standard LoRaWAN protocol.
But note that this module is not ready to use although Makerfabs provide demo/detailed usage guide, users need to modify in the code the Appkey/ AppEUI/ DevEUI, to create a LoRaWAN application
3. LoRaWAN New Temperature/ Humidity/ Soil Moisture Sensor Gen2
As further understanding of LoRaWAN, we decided to create our own LoRaWAN solution with ASR6601. This is our 1st true LoRaWAN product that ready to use as users get it , but we do not prepare a case for it, so the users need to consider this by yourself. Like the above #1 and #2 , it has a onboard air temperature& humidity sensor on it , so it also been used to detect the air status.
4. AgroSense Soil Moisture Sensor LoRaWAN®
Agrosense products support official LoRaWAN Protocol 1.0.3, support data downlink, low power consumption, the working time can be > 1 years with simple AAA batteries, suitable for mass installation.
Compares to #3, this module has a good waterproof case and better RF dealing, but not air sensors(to make the case waterproof).
5. SenseLoRa_Soil Moisture & SenseLoRa_Industrial-grade Soil Remote Monitor V2(Humidity/ Temperature/ PH/)
We got many customer feedback that although LoRaWAN good, but it’s expensive/trouble to apply a LoRaWAN application, gateway/cloud service. A direct Lora sender/receiver for farm monitoring could be a good solution to replace wires , with LoRa’ advantage of long distance. And also as the ESP32 integrated with Ble/Wifi, suitable for Makers DIY/recreation , so we made SenseLora.
SenseLora is based ESP32S3 and LoRa module RFM95, with separated& solar power, only a sensor sender in the farm and a cheap receiver in console is enough. With ES32S3 as controller, it is also possible for the developer to further integrate the firmware, besides, the industry-grade version uses a Professional soil senor that detects the soil humidty 0%~100%(unlike the capacitive mode that only out a ADc output ) and temperature, and soil PH data, suitable for applications that need precise soil monitoring.
